"I have had back pain beginning in my mid-twenties for over 20 years. Eventually, back exercises, swimming and physical therapy proved inadequate. I was in quite a lot of pain two or so years ago when I began to be treated by Dr. Vafai. Since then, as long as I continue periodically to be treated, my back and neck pain remains greatly reduced and much more manageable. Sometimes it disappears completely, particularly shortly after being treated. What's more, I believe that spinal network analysis gives me better posture and better alignment and that this alignment will help me as I age to avoid other muscular-skeletal problems and arthritis. It is common for me to leave a treatment and to walk around realizing that I feel really good, that I'm walking properly with my body properly aligned. "Simply put, Dr. Vafai is amazing!! I used to get a lot of headaches and migraines that were debilitating. I’ve been to neurologists and other physicians who have prescribed a combination of anti-seizure medications, anti-inflammatories, narcotics, neck braces and cortisone injections into the neck. "In the spring of 2009 I began to notice pains in my upper legs, running down the upper thigh, and down my glutes. Having been yoga instructor, I was alarmed that I was no longer about to do lunges without pain. Even walking down the street, the pain would suddenly seize me almost to the point of being unable to take another step. Lifting anything heavy would cause me extreme back pain.
I saw my doctor who sent for an MRI where it was found that I had considerable arthritis in my spinal discs, causing bulging and pressure on my sciatic nerves along with narrowing of the spinal canal. This was labeled “spinal stenosis”. Luckily I had a friend who recommended that I visit a certain type of chiropractor called “Network Chiropractors”. This is how I met Dr. Vafai.
As I explained my long list of symptoms to Dr. Vafai which by that time included pain in my right knee and ankle, and sharp pains in my back at times, Dr. Vafai assured me that she had dealt with this many times and that it could all be alleviated with consistent treatment. This left me very hopeful. I visited 2 times a week in the beginning and then only once a week as it got better. I got to a point where I felt almost totally normal and was overjoyed to begin my extensive walking and hiking again which I had sorely missed. I am even able to lunges again. I am careful about lifting but I am able to lift heavy things again when needed. For a period of time I neglected my visits and started to degenerate. But I was soon brought back to a fully functional level once I resumed regular visits.
The tests that were done by Dr. Vafai with electronic devices that measure bodily tension clearly showed that tension had been reduced in many parts of my back, relieving the additional burden on my spine and nerves
Also pains in my feet, and stiffness in my thumbs has been released. There is almost no part of the body that cannot benefit from the treatments. I consider this work to be a true miracle from the horrible state I was in a few years ago. I now feel better than ever!
Last but not least, the peaceful, healing atmosphere of Dr. Vafai's new Belmont office is a treat to go to. I look forward to the sounds of the gargling fountain and the beautiful instrumental music. Not to mention that Dr. Vafai's rates are totally affordable even when insurance runs out. Dr. Vafai is so totally devoted to her patients and practice. She is compassionate and always goes out of her way to listen to all the details of what my body is doing any particular week and finds ways to address them. She has an extremely healing touch.
